Back when I was in grad school in Maryland, I came across this film of the S.F. earthquake of 1906. There is some really amazing footage of the aftermath and much more can be found at the amazing Prelinger Archives.
I was reminded of the anniversary by Berkeleyside and their link to this story – and the great images – at SF Gate.
I never would have guessed then, that I would end up living in the Bay area, on some of the shakiest ground there is (and loving it).
